Blogger for hire

It's no surprise that I have a hard time updating my blog...it's been over a month since my last post. I fear people have stopped reading my blog because I hardly ever update it. I'm pretty much a loser.

I have no valid excuse for this neglectful behavior...I love the internet, I love writing, I love pictures...put them all together and you've got yourself a blog. It would be much easier if I had someone who knew all about my life and could update my blog for me. That way, people could still know what's going on in my life and they'd think I was smart and funny.

I would probably choose Jess. She always has great stories/ideas/pictures to blog about. I would also consider John. He has some amazing stories! And he always gets lot of comments (although apparently I've slacked because I've fallen to his list of people who don't comment enough). However, John isn't the best speller, which might be a problem. In that case, I could hire someone like Melissa Merrill (I think she has a blog out there somewhere)...she's an incredible editor and has the most amazing skill with words. People would surely think I was smart. I would also consider my cousin Cristi. She's a photographer and has some amazing pictures.

So, if anyone is interested in applying to be my blog writer, feel free to contact me. I love reading all your blogs!

Random Thoughts...

I realize it's been almost 2 months since I last blogged, so I have a quite a bit of catching up to do. Here are a few random things as of late:

For one, I bought new shoes. They're great! I love them. I dare say they're the best running shoes I've ever had. So I finally said goodbye to my Asics and hello to my Nike Pegasus.

On a funny note, please check out Jessi's Blog. This was seriously the funniest night of my life. We laughed so hard creating these pictures. I owe it all to Jessi and Photoshop...she's a pro. We have more things in the works that we'll hopefully get to complete someday.

On a sad note, it's my birthday month. Why sad, you ask? I love birthdays, but it also means I'm getting old---er. Well, it never really bothered me too much until today. I was looking in the mirror and I noticed something in my hair. Then I realized it was white, and it was actually a hair, not something in my hair. That's right, I got my first grey hair. The funny thing is it isn't a long strand of hair, it's just a baby hair right where my part is. I guess that's what mother nature is giving me for my birthday.

April 18 is the big day...

On December 31st I signed up for the SLC 1/2 marathon. You may be thinking to yourself "What are you thinking?" Well, for one, I love running. Second, this race happens to be my favorite race...ever. The course is perfect, the weather is great, and it's downtown SL! My favorite thing about this race would have to be the water. Water never seemed so important until you're at about mile 10 and you feel like you can't do it anymore. Thanks Park City Ice Water Company!

My first time running this race was in 2007. Halfway through my training I had gotten really sick and lost a lot of weight and the doctor recommend I take it easy so I signed up for the 5K. The day before the race, as I'm picking up my packet at the Expo, I decided I'd forever regret not running the half, so I signed up for the Half Marathon 16 hours before the race.

The race was awesome! I was doing great time and felt great up until about mile 11. At that point I felt like my feet were going to fall off and thought I'd die on 4th South and State Street. Thanks to Brooke, who kept me going, I didn't stop or walk. I could see Gateway and felt so excited, until...I stepped on the cobblestone. Cobblestone had never been so hard to walk on. and Gateway had never seemed so long until that day. But I did it, I finished! I hadn't realized I finished until the announcer called my name over the speaker.

That was seriously one of the greater accomplishments in my life. That's why I've decided to do it again and again. I haven't ran a race in quite a while, due to my knee injury, so I'm pretty nervous about that. I'm still hoping I can finish in better time than I did 2 years ago, so wish me luck!

My Biggest Christmas Pet Peeves..

1) People who dress up their pets. Tell me this pet looks happy and comfortable...

2)Bad singers who make bad remixes of Christmas music.

3) Overly decorated houses that are extremely tacky.

4) Ugly Christmas Sweaters. And Christmas accessories for that matter. If you wear one as a joke, it's fine, but if you see someone wearing it out because they think their sweater is actually "cute", then that's a problem.

5) Eggnog. I absolutely hate it. I know some of you out there really, really like it, but I can't stand even the smell of it.

I'm Alive!

I've been gone for a while, but I'm alive. The two main reasons I haven't blogged in so long are:

1) Our internet at home was down. Usually people can make up for that at work, but this website is blocked at work.

2) My camera isn't working and I'm too cheap to buy a new battery (which is like $60).

Without pictures and the internet, my blogging life really came to a halt. So I'll have to make up for it in upcoming posts. I've got lots to blog about...it's Christmas, which means lots of tacky Christmas decorations, ugly sweaters, way too many treats, horrible Christmas music remixes, and terrible Christmas gifts.

Money Talk

Right now, money seems to be on every one's mind. We hear about it on the news, on the radio, at work, etc. Although I consider myself pretty good with money, I don't consider myself a money-savvy person because I don't know anything about investing, so I always try to stay away from money talk. But I've had a few thoughts...

I read Rhett's blog and I thought it was great! His blog referenced Mark Cuban's Blog which I also thought was very insightful. I most recently read Laura's Blog and it made me realize this:

I may not be smart when it comes to investing. Even though it's a topic that fascinates me and I'd love to learn more about it, I don't have to be good at investing to be smart about money. The best way to be smart about money is to not have any debt. It's that simple. It doesn't matter how much you're investing if you owe the same amount. Your best bet is to pay off your debt and save. Read Mark Cuban's blog...I thought it was genius and explained it in a way that even I could understand.

Pumpkin Anyone?

What the heck do you do with a 1,529 pound pumpkin? Ask Thad Starr from Pleasant Hill, OR. Apparently he won the Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off. His pumpkin gained about 30 lbs a day. How do you even make a pumpkin gain weight?! And what do you do with it after the contest? So many questions...
